Dixie State University Student Association presents American Authors and Uprising Paint Fight as part of Dixie Fest 2014

ST. GEORGE, UT – American Authors and Uprising Paint Fight are coming to St. George for Dixie Fest 2014, sponsored by the Dixie State University Student Association (DSUSA) on Friday, March 7, at 6 p.m.

Working closely with the City of St. George, DSUSA has planned a unique outdoor concert experience being held at the Ridgetop Complex, which is located at the old St. George Municipal Airport. In addition to the concert and paint fight, Dixie Fest will offer BMX biking, break dancers, an aerialist, and much more.

“Building on the success of last year’s Macklemore and Ryan Lewis concert, DSUSA has partnered with another amazing up-and-coming artist, American Authors, and added additional events to create a one of a kind festival that can’t be found anywhere else in the state,” says Jordon Sharp, DSU Director of Student Involvement and Leadership. “You won’t want to miss it.”

Tickets for the show are now available for purchase online for $20 at, $15 at the DSU Campus Store for Dixie State students with current DSU ID. Ticket prices will go up the day of the show; advance purchase is recommended.

“Of all the events this spring, I am most looking forward to Dixie Fest,” says Jordyn Hanevold, Vice-President of Student Life for the DSUSA. “It’s exciting and new; there’s such a large variety of things taking place at it.”

American Authors is a Brooklyn-based rock band who was recently chosen as VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist for February. The group has made television appearances on NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Live with Kelly and Michael, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, VH1 Big Morning Buzz Live, and CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, in addition to an appearance on the CW’s The Carrie Diaries.

“Best Day of My Life” is the lead track from American Authors’ debut EP on Island Records, which hit #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. In addition, “Best Day of My Life” was bolstered by prominent placements in a Lowe’s TV ad, a trailer for the films Delivery Man and The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, a Major League Baseball Fan Cave commercial, and the opening sequence of this year’s ESPN World Series Of Poker coverage. The band’s first full length album, entitled “Oh, What a Life” is set for release on March 4, 2014.
