Come out to get lucky at Casino Night on November 16 at 7:30. The entire Gardner Plaza will be transformed into a mock casino with games such as Black Jack, Texas Hold 'em, Roulette, and Craps. Everyone will be assigned a number of chips to start with and at the end of the night you can trade your winnings for raffle tickets to win some awesome prizes! CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD A REGISTRATION PACKET (registration packets may also be picked up in person at the Dean of Students Office) This year, the Great Race will be held on April 11, 2014 at 5 pm, starting in Hansen Stadium. The Great Race is a Dixie State tradition that began in the 1960’s with a bike race that traveled through St. George and its surrounding farm roads. In the early 1970’s it became a 10-man relay team that included activities such as: running, motor crossing, horseback riding across Foremaster Ridge, bicycling, and tubing down the Virgin River. As part of this year's D-Week festivities, we will be hosting a competition to find the best of the best performing talent that our school has to offer. Not only will the winner get the opportunity to perform at the dedication of the new campus clock tower, but they will receive at $500 cash prize! Come help us clean up the Ridge Top Complex! The DSU Service and Community Engagement Center invites the Student Body and the St. George community to come help clean up the old St. George Airport. There will be a bus provided to help transport students from campus to the old airport meeting at 3:45pm in front of the old gym. The event will run from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Every semester Dixie State University organizes a large scale service event put on by the students and extended to the community. In the fall 2013 semester the community met in the Gardner Center Ballroom on DSU campus and packaged 50,000 individual macaroni and cheese meals for the local Utah Food Banks. As you may have seen across campus, student government elections are now in full swing! Many of you probably wonder "Why should I care about this?" Hopefully this post will help you understand why. What do all these positions do? Perhaps the most important student position on campus is the student body president. As the chief officer for the Dixie State University Student Association, the president represents the general student voice to university administration and is a voting member of the Dixie State University Board of Trustees. The president also works with the four vice-presidents to oversee all functions of the DSUSA within the branches of clubs, student life, publicity and academics. Truth in Tuition will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 5:00 PM in Gardner Center Conference Room B At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to hear how this year's student fee allocation process went and what changes will be made for the next year. How are my student fees chosen? At the beginning of each year, the Student Fee Allocation Committee (SFAC) meets to recommend changes to the student fee structure for the following year. The SFAC is a recommending body, consisting of the DSUSA Executive Council and two students at large; appointed by the DSUSA President.
