DSUSA directs the student life and events on campus, all clubs, the student senate, service, and oversees the allocation of student fees. The Student Involvement & Leadership department is committed to training incoming and current student leaders on campus policy and procedure, and promoting involvement in an inclusive learning environment. The mission of DSUSA is designed to: provide students with learning and service opportunities, offer leadership training, promote school spirit, create unity and a unique Dixie culture, link Dixie traditions with new students, and offer a voice to the student body.  Each DSUSA Student Leader evaluates the needs of the students and develops strategies to attain the specific goals of each year.

DSUSA Student Leader Qualifications

• Maintain a 2.75 GPA
• Register for the Leadership Perspectives Class (2 credits) each Tuesday at 4 pm
• Attend the Utah Leadership Association Retreat: Tuesday, May 16 – Thursday, May 18
• Attend the DSUSA fall retreat: Aug. 16 – Aug. 18
• Comply with the DSUSA Constitution: http://dixiestudentlife.com/dsusa/constitution-bylaws/
• Sign an Academic & Behavior Agreement based on the DSUSA Code of Conduct
• Fulfill specific job description and office hours as outlined below

President’s Cabinet

DSUSA Student Body President: Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (25 hours per week)-ELECTED
The DSUSA Student Body President (SBP) is the Chief Executive Officer of DSUSA, and represents the collective voice of the student body in numerous capacities. The SBP sits on various campus committees, meets with faculty and administration, and is a voting member of the Dixie State Board of Trustees. The SBP oversees all student government functions including all DSUSA branches, leadership trainings, retreats, forums, etc. The SBP is the chair of the Executive Council and assists the Vice Presidents in leading their individual branches and fulfilling their objectives and goals. The SBP works with the Executive Council to oversee the Student Fee Allocation process.

Administrative Assistant to the President: $1,000 stipend (10 hours per week)
The Executive Administrative Assistant maintains workflow by taking minutes, noting assignments, and distributing information for the Executive Council and DSUSA student leaders — namely at Executive Council meetings. The Executive Administrative Assistant has set work hours at the front desk in the student government office to assist students with information about student government. The assistant also maintains the Student Government office. The Executive Administrative Assistant manages and trains the administrative assistants for the five different branches of student government.

Chief Justice: $1,000 Stipend: (10 hours per week)
The main responsibilities of the Chief Justice include interpreting the DSUSA Constitution during official matters, revising and updating the DSUSA Constitution, assisting in the revision process of departmental bylaws, serving as chair of the DSUSA Election Committee, organizing the Direction of Dixie Forum each semester, and planning relevant activities.

Involvement Coordinator: $500 Stipend: (5 hours per week)
The DSUSA Involvement Coordinator is part of the Student Body President’s cabinet and oversees the Student Involvement committee and organization. This position works with all departments of Student Government to provide students with opportunities to be involved in DSUSA and to learn about the ways they can serve. The Involvement Coordinator manages a committee of students (Involvement Team) and helps train them to transition into different departments of Student Government.

Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator: $500 Stipend: (5 hours per week)
The Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator is apart of the Student Body President’s Cabinet and overseas the collaboration of inclusion throughout the campus. The Coordinator will serve as a liaison to the Student Body President, and report to him/her weekly. Showing a passion to serve fellow students, and advocate for unity.

Athletics

Vice President of Athletics: Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Vice President of Athletics serves as a voting member of the Student Association Executive Council. This position oversees the President of the Stampede. This position will work to instill a lasting spirit, loyalty, and pride among students.

Stampede President: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
The President of the Stampede will oversee the student section production of all sporting events. This position will work to instill a lasting spirit, loyalty, and pride among students.

Senate

Vice President of Academics: Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (20 hours per week)-ELECTED
The Vice President of Academics serves as a member of the Student Association Executive Council (EC) and is a liaison between the EC and all academic departments. The Vice President of Academics heads the Student Senate, oversees weekly Senate meetings, directs communication between students and academic departments, allocates student fees toward academic growth and discovery, and manages all other connected responsibilities of the Student Senate.

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academics: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
The Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academics maintains workflow by taking minutes at the weekly Student Senate meetings and manages communication within the Senate.  The Administrative Assistant has set work hours at the front desk in the DSUSA Offices to assist students with information about Student Government.

Academic Senators: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
Senators represent declared majors at Dixie State University. Senators also serve as a liaison between the student body and faculty. As such, it is imperative that the representing senator maintains good  rapport with their department faculty. Senators allocate a portion of student fees by writing and investigating bills presented to the Senate on behalf of the students’ academic pursuits. Below is a list of academic senate positions:

Student Institute of Politics

Student Director of Institute of Politics: Half Tuition Stipend (10 hours per week)

The Student Director is ultimately responsible for all the Institute’s programs and events. In close coordination with the DSUSA Vice President of Academics, the Student Director represents the DSU student body to campus, community, and state officials. The Student Director assists in the planning and implementation of dozens of political education and involvement events. The Student Director’s focus is centered on increasing political awareness and activity at DSU.

Political Involvement Event Coordinator 1: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)

The events coordinator is responsible for planning and carrying out all Institute events, including weekly Pizza and Politics discussions, election debates and forums, and Political Involvement Week activities. The events coordinator will work closely with the DSUSA Public Relations department as well as campus Guest Services.

Political Involvement Event Coordinator 2: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)

The events coordinator is responsible for planning and carrying out all Institute events, including weekly Pizza and Politics discussions, election debates and forums, and Political Involvement Week activities. The events coordinator will work closely with the DSUSA Public Relations department as well as campus Guest Services.

Internship Outreach Coordinator: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)

The internships Outreach Coordinator works closely with the Director of the Institute and the Director of Employer Outreach and Internships to provide public policy internship opportunities for DSU students.

Clubs

Vice President of Clubs & Organizations (Executive Council Member): Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (20 hours per week)-ELECTED 
The Vice President Clubs & Organizations serves as a member of the Student Association Executive Council (EC) and is a liaison between the EC and all student clubs and organizations. The Vice President of Clubs & Organizations heads the Club Council, which passes club bills, oversees weekly club meetings, distributes club funds for bills and merit money, and assists clubs and organizations in promoting and marketing themselves.

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Clubs & Organizations: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
The Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Clubs and Organizations maintains workflow by taking minutes at the weekly Club Council meetings and manages communication with the =Club Council and the Club Representatives.

Club Reps: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
Club Representatives sit on the Club Council and they represent specific clubs on campus. Club Representatives communicate with, train, and inform club presidents and club advisors. Club Representatives make decisions concerning issues and bills regarding clubs that come before the Club Council. Below is a list of the club representatives:

Student Life

Vice President of Student Life (Executive Council Member): Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Vice President of Student Life serves as a voting member of the Student Association Executive Council. This position oversees all three chairs as well as their activities within Student Life. This position plans interactive and enticing events that appeal to the diverse student population and encourages student involvement on campus.

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Student Life: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
The Administrative Assistant to the VP of Student Life maintains workflow by taking minutes at Student Life meetings and managing communication with the Vice President & Student Life Chairs. The Administrative Assistant has set work hours at the front desk in the DSUSA Offices to assist students with information about student government.

Social Events Chair: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Social Events Chair, under Student Life is responsible for the planning of dances and Dixie State traditional events.

Public Events Chair: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Public Events Chair is responsible to direct the three pageants held at Dixie State University: Miss Dixie State, Mr. Dixie, and D-Queen. This position is responsible for booking and bringing entertainers on campus that enhance student involvement at DSUSA activities.

Spirit Chair: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Spirit Chair’s purpose is to get students involved by helping create engaging activities and helping Dixie students to enjoy their college experience. Another important aspect is to work with the Stampede leaders to entice enthusiasm at games as well as collaborate throughout the year.

Public Relations

Vice President of Public Relations (Executive Council Member): Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Vice President of Public Relations serves as a voting member of the Student Association Executive Council. He/she is responsible for all promotions and advertisement of DSUSA and all Student Life & Leadership programs including, but not limited to print and electronic advertisement. This position also oversees the five managers in the communications department and maintains the workflow in each area.

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Clubs & Organizations: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
The Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Public Relations maintains workflow by taking minutes at Public Relations meetings and managing communication with the vice president & PR managers. The Administrative Assistant has set work hours at the front desk in the DSUSA offices to assist students with information about student government.  The assistant also maintains receipts and expenditures for public relations. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to attending weekly meetings, student government retreats, and any other DSUSA sponsored event.

Web/Promotions Manager: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Web/Promotions Manager uses creativity and technological skills to connect with fellow students and make them aware of all the great opportunities available to them as Dixie students. He/she manages a small committee that focuses maintaining the DSUSA website, and all other non-social media related online outlets, strengthening the relationships between Dixie students, student government, and faculty.

Publicity Manager: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Publicity Manager uses creativity and people skills to connect with fellow students and make them aware of all the great opportunities available to them as Dixie students. He/she manages a small committee that focuses on increasing the attendance at campus events and strengthening the relationships between Dixie students, student government, and faculty.

Graphic Design Manager: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Graphic Design Manager designs any posters, banners, fliers, and any other marketing and social media material used to promote DSUSA activities and sponsored events.

Social Media Manager: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Social-Media Manager uses social-media to market, brand, educate, and create engagement for Student Government as a whole, and events they sponsor through the website, and various social media outlets to supplement other marketing plans.

Videographer/ Photographer: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Videographer/Photography Manager uses videography/photography to document and provide content for DSUSA marketing purposes for events through the website, social media, television screens, and more.

Marketing Manager: Full Tuition Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Marketing Manager ensures that every student at Dixie is aware of upcoming DSUSA events through creative marketing and talking to students on campus.

Service

Vice President of Service: Full Tuition Scholarship plus Stipend (20 hours per week)
The Vice President of Service serves as a member of the Student Association Executive Council (EC) and is a liaison between the EC and the Service Council. The Vice President of Service heads the Student Service Council, oversee weekly Service Council meetings, directs communication and participation between students and community, allocates student fees toward service opportunities and community engagement, and manages all community partner accounts. 

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Service: $500 Stipend (5 hours per week)
The Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Service maintains workflow by taking minutes at the weekly Service Council meetings, and manages service hours from events and communication through the Service Department. The Administrative Assistant has set work hours at the front desk in the DSUSA Offices to assist students with information about student government.

Youth Support Service Leader: $1000 (10 hours per week)
The Youth Support Leader is responsible for establishing and maintaining a relationship with 4 assigned Community Partners. The Youth Support Leader is responsible for attending regular meetings with these organizations and staying current on their student volunteer needs. With the help of a 3-5 person committee this position coordinates with an assigned club rep, who provides club member volunteers. In addition to these ongoing events, this Service Leader is also responsible for planning and carrying out a large-scale service event. Other responsibilities include helping with Campus to Community, and supporting the other organizations within Student Government.

Health and Lifestyle Service Leader: $1000 (10 hours per week)
The Health and Lifestyle Leader is responsible for establishing and maintaining a relationship with 4 assigned Community Partners. The Health and Lifestyle Leader is responsible for attending regular meetings with these organizations and staying current on their student volunteer needs. With the help of a 3-5 person committee this position coordinates with an assigned club rep, who provides club member volunteers. In addition to these ongoing events, this Service Leader is also responsible for planning and carrying out a large-scale service event. Other responsibilities include helping with Campus to Community, and supporting the other organizations within Student Government.

Alternative Breaks Coordinator: $1000 (10 hours per Week)
The Alternative Breaks Coordinator is primarily responsible for the planning and execution of the fall and spring Alternative Break trips. The Alternative Break Coordinator will host informational meetings and recruit students to participate in the Alternative Breaks. In addition, he/she is responsible for putting together fundraising projects throughout the semester to cover the cost of travel and expenditures.
